Well it's bad s***. I had 30 years experience with an alcoholic and it is a very terrible thing. And as it degenerates you can see some things you would never want to see happen.

Just looking alcoholism up in "Healing with Whole Foods" (Pritchard), p430, your friends has symptoms which are the hallmarks of alcoholism.

Also I believe alcoholics are completely at the mercy of the disease as their body chemistry is tied to it. Changing the food or taking supplements can be effective at giving them an escape route.

One of the tratments recommended on p423 is : Chapparal leaf, pau d'arco, sumo root, dried ling zhi, peach seed ... made into an equal part "decoction" treatment.

Anyway, you will be doing well if you can get an alcoholic to do anything, and calling them high-functioning doesn't hide much. Tweet
