Re: Several differences between dopamin and serotonin deficiency

Neurochemistry is a tricky thing, and not everything works for everyone.

Ideas of treatments:

low dopamine, supplements: DLPA, L-tyrosine, Nootropics, l-dopa mucana

low dopamine prescription: Wellbutrin, ???, amphetamines (adderall, dexedrine etc)

low serotonin supplements: 5htp, Sam-E, St Johns wart, Holy Basil, pure Saffron

low serotonin prescriptions: SSRIS (a ton), tricyclics

Brain balancer supplements: Lithium orotate

Brain balancer prescriptions: lamotrigine, tegratol, prescription lithium (works differently)

Anxiety supplements: l-theanine, rhodiola, ashwaganda, passion flower, lemon balm, anti-histamines

Anxiety prescriptions: Benzos (clonazepam, valium, ativan, kolonopin), Buspar, sometimes SSRIs

One way this article is incorrect, is that if you are low in serotonin you can have low energy as well. I call serotonin the energy modulator.
If you are sufficient in serotonin and exercise, you will probably have a normal cycle of being awake and sleeping well, and will like being active, (running, work, etc).

**Also, our bodies adapt to substances. So for instance, Adderall changed my life, to a point, then my body adapted to the dopamine and started producing less.

I also felt more social and active without the dopamine. (when you take dopamine enhancers you will feel an initial energy rush for the first week or two, then you will just feel "calm", not necessarily productive)

**AND AGAIN: everything works differently for everyone and some people need a combination of things so consulting with a Holistic practitioner or a Psychiatrist who specializes in whatever you think you have, is important.

**For instance, SSRIs help me feel more social but I still feel very anxious.

I have spent 10 years, a ton of money on doctors and supplements, and I am still having a challenging time finding what works the best.
I am getting close.
Don't give up :)
