Pain with intercourse

I have had pain during sex for over a year, with slight bleeding occurring. Penetration hurts, and the area seems like the vaginal entrance close to the perinium.

I had shingles which manifested on my labia and inside my vagina, two years ago. Sex was painful, but gradually it healed and the pain stopped. At this time I had come off of antidepressants, and though my libido was returning, my vulva and vagina became non-responsive, PSSD. Maybe a couple of months later is when the pain began again, with penetration, with slight bleeding from sore areas.

I finally got went to my doctor, and she didn't have much to say about it, but started me on bio-identical hormone replacement therapy since I was in menopause as well. That did nothing for it.

So, about six months later I went back and the nurse practitioner took more interest, said there were white raised areas inside the vaginal opening along with redness. She took swabs and tested me for STDs. A culture came back bacterial vaginosis and E.coli. I was treated with Cipro and metronidazole vaginal cream. I never had an obvious discharge.

So, after that, I still had pain and slight bleeding. This went on for several more months until I got referred to a gyno.

She hardly looked at all and passed it off as menopausal thinning, prescribed an expensive estrogen cream.

Time went by and it seemed to get a little better, with less pain and no bleeding, but then it would flare up. Sometimes there would be the bleeding (and I'm talking just a tinge on a wipe), nothing copious) and little pain, and other times there'd be the pain but no bleeding.

Forgot to add I was negative for yeast or STDs, otherwise. One doctor gave me an oral antifungal at the beginning of all this with no affect, of course.

I am getting really discouraged because this has been going on for nearly a year and a half, and really impacts my enjoyment of sex. I still have PSSD though it got less "numb" when I reinstated the AD, though sex drive fell through the floor again.

When my husband looks at the area that is most easily seen near the perinium, he can't see the white bumps at all, just redness. It's hard to even see where the bleeding might be coming from. It's hard to tell but seems like the pain is most pronounced the first part of my vagina, at/just inside the entrance.

I haven't seen reference to bleeding with the vulva diseases I've read about.

Can anyone shed any light on this? My gyn was useless. How best to find a specialist that can deal with these odd conditions?
