Re: Body odor
I'm sorry to hear what you're going through but hang in there. don't let this stop you from living an enjoyable and happy life. I've dealt with this for 20+ years and even though it was rough at first, once i really dedicated to controlling this, I live a happy life with a job, home and loved ones. I usually can't smell how bad my odor is but i can tell its not "right". it wont matter how many showers i take, its there and i cant pinpoint where its coming from. its sort of an aura that can fill a room.
everyones situation is different. it could be something you eat, IBS, just general diarrhea, candida, the list goes on and on. First thing i would do is log what you eat. analyzing your diet and seeing what the trigger is. it could be sugar, red meats or any meat, alcohol, etc.. i'm hoping its not everyday you experience BO so try and stay away from the common red flag foods and see if it improves. research, research and research others experience and symptoms online. being a male myself I'm not sure if there's anything pertaining to females that might be an issue so I can't help you there (period, birth control, etc...).
communicate with people you trust. does your family members smell anything? I went to countless doctors knowing i smelled and they say they dont smell anything or brush me off with some meds that do nothing. maybe someone can pinpoint the origin of the smell (genital area, hair, ....). you could also try seeing a gastroenterologist after you researched this abit. more than likely they'll just give you a prescription to try but if you go in there with specifics on your problem and you both discuss the issue you might have better luck on what could help.
for me, when i did have an odor, i also noticed my genital area was sweaty and i would perspire alot easier than usual. once i figured out my problem foods, i rarely get this way and have been able to control my BO a great amount. My triggers were alcohol, anything sugary like cookies/pastries/etc.., red meat, fish and chicken/turkey, processed foods like cold cuts and anything dairy. I would get sweaty when i had diarrhea and the BO would last all day sometimes into the next day. it wasn't until earlier this year that i went on bentyl for IBS-d. this hasn't cured me 100% but it has helped immensely the past few months. in my case, i guess i had some inflammation somewhere and that just made me have bad BO. i still get episodes but the bentyl helps with how long i would smell and it doesn't seem as bad. again, every situation is different.
so please, dont give up. you can beat this. Hopefully find an absolute cure or at least be able to control it so that it doesn't effect your social life or chasing your dreams.
