I blame stress and lack of sleep on my damaged immune system. I eliminated the bulk of my stress a couple years ago (divorce) and replaced it with a different kind of stress (single motherhood). I'm in a way better place then I was then, so I'm thankful for that. My lack of sleep though is going to kill me -- I'm sure. I've been living on about 3-4 hours of sleep for several years now. My otherwise extremely healthy lifestyle (eat right, take vitamins, exercise, no caffeine, alcohol, sugar) isn't making up for the loss of sleep. There's no replacement for sleep, I know -- but I can't seem to get that part of my life RIGHT. My immune system is damaged from it. How damaged? I don't know. I get sick a lot plus lots of cold sore outbreaks that I never used to get. I know it's because my immunity is low. They're nonstop! My question is how LONG does it take to repair a battered immune system? I know I need sleep, but is there more than I can do on top of it? If I can get my sleep habits right, will I see a difference in the way I feel in weeks? Months? Years? How long does it take?!
