How to thin gelatinous fluid in middle ear? Otitis Media / Glue Ear
I seem to have long-standing Otitis Media, non-infective.
I used to think it was Eustacian Tube Dysfunction, but I am able to use several strategies to successfully open my ETs. The problem is that the gluggy, blocked feeling does not go away.
Hence it's dawned on me that more than likely the fluid in the ear has become gelatinous, so it cannot escape. How can I liquefy or thin this fluid in the middle ear, so that it can escape?
The problem is that this is not mucus that's being continually secreted, as in sinuses/lungs during illness, so I don't hold out much hope for oral or nasal expectorants. It's already IN my middle ear, just sitting there as an independent blob.
Surely there must be a way of thinning this material though???...instead of waiting a few months to get an appointment with an expensive specialist, who'll run tests and eventually cut my ear drum and vacuum out the goop.
