Ketones in blood and urine, sweet taste in mouth
3 weeks ago I fell ill to some illness that was quite persistent: high body temperature, coughing, sneezing. I barely ate anything during those 3-5 days of worst health.
Doctor also put me on
Antibiotics because of GI issues I had before illness. After 2 days of finishing
Antibiotics course, I was at the gym and felt sweet taste in my mouth that would not go away. Same for my urine, smells like fruit.
I went to emergency doctor a week ago and they detected ketones in blood and urine but no glucose in urine and normal blood sugar.
The symptoms come and go, like yesterday I was barely functional, dizzy. I still have lingering elevated body temperature of 36.8-37.2 which is not normal to me. My normal temp is usually around 36.3.
I am afraid of developing diabetes, despite normal blood
Sugar level. I keep dumping lots of ketones in my urine and sweet taste still lingers a week after appointment. Previous doctor brushed it off as side effects of
Antibiotics . I am over a week off them and I believe it should have cleared my system a long time ago. During the course, I felt horrible taste in my mouth but not sweet! Sweetness started after the course. I also think that I lost some weight, around 3kg since start of the March as per gym scales.
Could anyone advice what is happening with me? I am going back to doctor tomorrow but it seems like doctors do not pay attention to my woes and symptoms as long as blood
Sugar is normal. I feel dizzy, disorientated and have exams in 4 weeks and can't study because of my symptoms.
