Re: Calcium by Hveragerthi (a good guy)

"Milk is a really bad choice, and is one of the leading causes of osteoporosis."

This is just simply not true:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22081694

"Some authors have suggested that dairy products are not helpful and perhaps detrimental to bone health because higher osteoporotic fracture incidence is observed in countries with higher dairy product consumption. However, scientific evidence does not support any of these claims.

Milk and dairy products neither produce acid upon metabolism nor cause metabolic acidosis, and systemic pH is not influenced by diet. Observations of higher dairy product intake in countries with prevalent osteoporosis do not hold when urban environments are compared, likely due to physical labor in rural locations.

Dietary phosphate does not have a negative impact on calcium metabolism, which is contrary to the acid-ash hypothesis."

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23652773

" The proportion of women with hypertension, osteoporosis, and both diseases significantly increased across decreasing quartiles of dairy intake.

A dairy intake in the lowest quartile was a significant predictor of osteoporosis [OR (95 % CI): 1.43 (1.12, 1.82)] and hypertension [OR (95 % CI): 1.46 (1.15, 1.85)] when compared to the highest quartile. Similarly, a low dairy intake was associated with increased odds to have both the diseases [OR (95 % CI): 1.60 (1.10, 2.34)]."

LESS DAIRY= HIGHER RATES OF OSTEOPOROSIS.
