Ascaris, the roundworm is a cosmopolitan parasitosis caused by the infestation of man by Ascaris, a large nematode (20 cm long and 5 mm in diameter).
It is part of helminth infection or intestinal worms.
If the disease is not serious in itself, it leads to a weakening of the body by increasing malnutrition, making it less able to defend themselves against other diseases. It therefore has important socio-economic consequences.
