I agree. I think they are mis-identifying rope worms as round worms. In my experience, round worms look like sphagetti and are not as long as the ones they show. The textbook that I use identifies Ascaris lumbricoides as up to 35 cm in length. That's approx 14 inches. Described as large, pinkish white and conically tapered at the anterior end.
You can see lots of pics of roundworms on YouTube when they open an obstructed bowel.
