I've read that when hunger returns the digestive system is also restarted. So feeding can be more consistent compared to when you break it ahead of time, and it's slow.
When you break a longer fast, the digestive system is ready when you start to feel hunger again. That's how it was for me. First days drank juices but didn't need them much. 2-3 days later things change and I start feeling the need to eat and I feel things are back in motion... disposal wise.
