Seb Derm
Hi, first time poster here. Been reading the site a few months trying to get help with what I think is seb derm. Itchy red, sometimes greasy inflamed skin in moustache, either side of nose and forhead in centre of eyebrows spreading up. This appeared originally on my chest about a year ago and then to my face about 2/3 months ago. I've been to the doctor three times, the first time told it was viral and was given
Antibiotics , the 2nd time a different doc just stated inflammation and gave me oral steroids which I didn't take. The side effects looked horrific and I'd read a lot about not using steroids for seb derm. Third and final time different doc gave me metrogel which I have no idea whether to use or not! So damn worried about using anything topical that may make it worse! 😕 But basically I've had to self diagnose (which is a disaster in its own!) and I'm pretty convinced that doctors are just guess when it comes to skin problems.
Anyway, I have no idea what brought this on but I have some background...
I'd spent about 3 years in an abusive relationship with very high levels of stress. Altho this was about 3 months ago and I'm far happier now and yet 'the rash' is now worse.
I had a terrible diet of hardly any fruit or vegetables during the last 8 years (I'm 29 now). Lots of takeaway, mainly pizza and mcdonalds. No variety.
Multiple courses of
Antibiotics (short 10 day courses) during the last few years for repeated tooth infection. Not sure how many courses total but feels like a lot.
End of background 😁
Anyway, I'm currently taking/trying the following daily since Xmas day:
3000ui Vitamin D3
Odorless garlic supplement 4.2mg allicin
Metatone tonic 3x day before meals
Wellmans multi vitamin
1000mg vitamin c
Dairy and wheat/gluten free
2 litres of water a day
A probiotic *50billion
10mg l-glutamine
Admittedly I've slipped up a few times with the dairy/wheat thing as I'm finding that very difficult. It seems to flare when it wants and I'm undecided whether I believe it's linked to diet.
I've also tried Dead
Sea Salt for several days at a time and it doesn't seem to help much. Cetaphil moisturiser just seemed to make my skin extremely oily and yoghurt masks didn't seem to make it any worse or better.
Have ordered some manuka honey to give this a go and I'm currently sitting slathered in vaseline as I saw one user had success with it (fingers crossed!) I'm really at my wits end with this now as nothing seems to work...
Things I also plan on trying:
Oil pulling
Meditation
Yoga
Nystatin
Biotin
Food elimination diet
Finding this site and all the people taking the time to post has kept me sane over the last few weeks and I would be very grateful, more than I can explain, for any guidance or ideas towards my current regime/battle plan. It would also be amazing to see as many success stories as possible. I'm sure for those like me, trying an endless list of 'cures' with no improvement, it would mean so much to see pages and pages of proof that this can be beaten 😊 One final thing, I've only recently begun looking but I'd like to rule out food interolance also, before attempting anything else. If anybody has experience with
food allergy testing and wouldn't mind sharing or filling in some blanks that would be very much appreciated. Is there a one test fits all type thing, covering all foods and maybe chemicals and where would I begin with this?
Wish you all the best, thanks in advance
