How I took control of seborrheic dermatitis!
Hi everyone!
I just wanted to come on here and share my experience with seborrheic dermatitis, and tell you how I managed to get control of my condition. God knows I was searching through online forums for months looking for advice before I found a combination that worked for me! So I wanted to repay the favour and help anyone out there who is struggling right now.
I won't bore you with my story, but I was struggling with seb derm for 16 months before I stumbled on the things that helped me. These are the three items I use in combination to keep my seborrheic dermatitis under control, with hardly any redness and only slight flaking on really cold days.
1) Vitamin D tablets
My seb derm seemed much better in the summer, and during a holiday to Egypt it cleared up nearly completely. It could have been that I was under less stress and feeling relaxed while I was away, but I figure the vitamin D from the sun had to have something to do with it. Living in England it can be hard to get enough sun, so try adding a vitamin D supplement to your daily regimen and see if you don't notice a change after about a week.
2) Cetaphil Moisturiser
I'd seen this suggested in a few different forums so thought I'd give it a go. I applied this to my face straight after a shower, and again during the day if I had time and it seemed to work pretty well at first. Unfortunately after a week or so the effects wore off, so I have to use it as a combination with other things. I apply just once a day in the morning.
3) Sebclair Cream
This is the big one! To me this really is miracle cream. Every other moisturiser or cream I used was good for a couple days/weeks but then went back to normal. I have been using Sebclair Cream for nearly 3 months now and it's still going strong. Apply 3 times a day, morning, afternoon and night, to the problem areas and see what happens. This is the only cream that keeps my face moisturised well after application, it just doesn't seem to dry up which is amazing. I would recommend this to anyone looking for an answer to their seb derm!
By combining these three I have managed to take control of my flare ups and red skin, and I have so much confidence again! Going into work and feeling like I have to stare at the floor as I could sense a flare up was shattering my confidence and making me feel uneasy all the time. My skin was liable to flake up just like that, but now I feel in control again. My skin still gets flaky occasionally, but that's usually when I get a bit lazy with the sebclair cream and don't apply as well because I'm in a rush, but when I stick to the routine above everything seems to be okay.
(Oh, and I use nizoral shampoo for my scalp every two-three weeks and it seems to work quite well!)
