Re: Desire for cooked food; vata constitution; winter

Iandthou,

Always good questions. I do not know much about Ayurvedic Doshas. But you can try what I do when cold. Most of the time I feel hot, but there are times when I feel cold and crave hot foods.

This is a common issue for raw vegans living cold parts of the world.

Here's what I do.

1. Drink warm teas throughout the day. Spices like, cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, black pepper, etc. in the tea are helpful.

2. During the evening with your raw meals you can include a warm soup or hot vegetable broth. During afternoon meals include hot tea.

3. If you have a dehydrator try to make some raw kale chips or raw tortillas with it and consume them hot with your meals, this way you get best of both worlds, warm foods and raw. If you do not have dehydrator then bake some foods in a toaster oven at a low temperature.

4. Many raw vegans, including me, sauté their cold salad in small amount of olive oil and mustard seed for a minute and then consume it, which staisfies the need for warm foods.

5. Keep the house warm enough so that you do not feeling cold and have to eat a hot meal. I do foot soaks in hot water to feel warm.

I could not tell you about wanting moist stuff. Most of we eat is moist, but I think you mean differently.

You are very intuitive and should follow your inner voice.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
