let me play the opponent here. Abuse is defined as
1) improper or excessive use or treatment
2) physical maltreatment

So is a father badly treating his son by punishing him when he rightly deserves it? By punishing I don't mean excessive physical abuse but just enough to get the message across. I'm a father and my son sometimes will not be goaded into studying by anything other than my inflicting pain on him. I just pinch his shoulder muscle a little and he hates it and then obeys. Before I became a dad I used to think that there were always alternatives to inflicting pain on disobedient children, but I was wrong. If you disagree with me and don't have a disobedient son then please don't respond. You have to of lived through the same in order to understand. I believe that abuse when it comes to disciplining your children means too much maltreatment or too strong maltreatment.
Humans are animals, albeit with evolved abilities such as language and mathematics. Children are just slightly above the base animal stage.
