Questions about my plan as well as home FMT
Hi all,
I have been dealing with chronic yeast problems (along with some bacterial problems) and Leaky Gut since taking an
Antibiotic 5 years ago. I also have to take steroids for life, which is hampering progress. I am on tons of supplements, which make me feel like 90-95% better, but if I go off the diet -- BAM -- I get a yeast infection. Also, since eating some "bad" food, I've been dealing with daily, chronic diarrhea (multiple times a day). I am getting a repeat Genova Stool test done, and am interested to see what that shows. The last one I did, a year ago, showed problems, such as no good bacteria (despite probiotics), high beta-glucaranidase, and high fecal fat, along with +1 rhodotorula species (not candida yeast).
My plan is try to:
1) Get on some serious antifungals to knock this out -- 5 years of living off of veggies, chicken and fish is NO WAY TO LIVE!
2) Try Cimetidine and Zinc, like dvjorge, to help w/ the cell mediated immunity
3) Try to do some Nystatin enemas if I can get my hands on it (however, I am going to skip the "flushing" part, as I've given myself some serious problems with over cleaning my bowel that sent me to the hospital due to another condition I have. I figure i am pretty cleared out anyway as I am diarrheaing like 8 times a day)
4) Do a serious gut healing protocol-- specifically w/ colostrum and Glutametrics (which has L-Glutamine and some ohter stuff)
5) Finish it off w/ some home FMT
Do you think thats a good plan? I read that Rhodoturula is only really sensitive to Amp B, so I am going to see if I can get my doc to give me an RX for the oral capsules, and send that to a compounding pharmacy.
My question about
FMT is this. I live with someone so preferably I'd like to use her stool. I don't have anyone close by me that I would be comfortable asking. She has healthy digestion, hasn't taken
Antibiotics in a very long time, goes #2 multiple times a day, doesn't get infections, no STDs, etc. However, she is overweight and has PCOS which requires her to take Metformin which actually gives her diarrhea and tummy troubles. Given this, I am unsure if she's a suitable donor. What do you think? I really have no other options, and I'm sure her gut flora beats mine by a landslide...however, i'm guessing she's less than ideal.
Thanks!
