I mean what I'm saying, leave-it-alone, and monsterlip's Japanese treatment are all really different iterations of the same thing.
of course there are little things here and there that differ, but the overall treatment plan and mechanism of action is the same: Let the body to its thing (monsterlip also suggesting gentle cleansing and I think that's a good idea too. I use diluted Dr Bronners. Don't think she ever said what she used).
I think there was some confusion where people thought leave-it-alone meant only avoiding balms. It's equally or more important that you do not manually pick the lip too. In fact, recently I've been thinking that the biggest problem with balms is that in applying them you pull the skin off the lip skin as it's trying to grow. I did this by applying aquafor with my finger for years.
