I think a reverse osmosis is your best choice. Reverse osmsois is considered as the most effective way to purify water. At least, I installed an undersink water filter(a ro system) to purify my tap water. I don't use a water distiller, because it cannot provide me enough water. On the market, there are some models are budget-friendly.
