Putin seems to take pretty interesting approach to minorities, including Jews and Muslims. welcoming, but no special treatment.

the thing about Sharia law is, based on the attention it gets in some quarters of the U.S. blogoshere, you would think it is supplanting U.S. law everywhere (in the U.S.). but if you drill down and really look at it, you find its all smoke and mirrors. Sharia law has not replaced the criminal laws in any state or city in the U.S. same is basically true of civil law... the only time that Sharia law will get applied in the a U.S. court is in a civil case, not criminal, where all sides had agreed in advance that they wanted Sharia law to be used by the court. but this is true of any law, anywhere... if you and I enter into an agreement, we can agree in advance that klingon law govern disputes between us. that's all it is.
