Re: Can herpes remain dormant for 25 plus years?

I wish to respond to this post: " You can have one breakout once every 25 years. But if your husband is telling you that he havesn't had sex with anybody else in 25 years but you and he has no idea how he caught herpes, and then all of a sudden he gets herpes blisters on his genetial area, then your husband is lying. You should suspect your husband cheated on you(or you cheated on him and gave it to him)."

That response is absolutely false. I had an outbreak after 29 years in a monogamous relationship. I have never cheated on my husband and do not suspect him of cheating either. However, thinking back, I'm pretty sure the partner I had before my husband could very well have had herpes. He once showed me a blister on his penis, but I had no idea what it was and neither did he or so he said. I do know that he had had many partners before me. Be careful before you start accusing your partners.
