Whole Health

Praise for Solaray Yeast Cleanse

20 years ago my health spriraled down after a bout with shingles in my mouth, also known as oral herpes. My hormones went haywire and I was so tired I was in bed most of the day. I went through mega testing through a mainstream doctor--lupus, thyroid disease, cancer, lyme disease, and so many others I don't remember. All tests came back negative. I was finally "diagnosed" with Chronic Fatigue which is really a category that doctors default to when they can't figure out why you are chronically fatigued after all tests are exhausted. I felt so bad I thought I was dying.

The good thing about the whole experience is that I took time to deepen my faith with prayer and studying God's Word. It gave me strength to reach out to others for support and resources, and, surprisingly, I found many! An answer to prayer.

The first thing I did was to start going to a chiropractor who was a "whole body" healer. Not someone you go to when you've strained your back, shoulder, or hip, but someone who teaches you about how your entire body is affected by the spinal tendons that reach all of the organs of the body. With regular sessions, starting out 3x per week and digressing to a maintenance schedule of 1x per month, PLUS being educated on what certain foods do to our body. I've always been a Sugar addict, as well as starches--the two main culprits of candida yeast. I never had problems with vaginal yeast infections, which is interesting, but when I started on various cleanses and eliminated Sugar from my diet, my health began to improve.

I also read many books on Chronic Fatigue and took a myriad of natural supplements. At one point, I was taking 24 pills a day! Overkill. And those 24 pills a day were costing me over $200 per month! Since I was feeling better, I started something similar to an elimination diet--eliminating one supplement at a time to see if they were really helping me. I narrowed it down to three products--D Ribose powder (highly recommended by the author of "From Fatiigued to Fantastic!"), Acetyl-L Carnitine, and Solaray Yeast Cleanse. I particularly use the Solaray brand because others did not work. My routine is to take 3 capsules with a full glass of water in the morning for 3 days in a row. This is much milder than the 6 capsules per day recommended on the bottle, and it doesn't say what length of time you should use it. I found that out in some of my other readings. A few days later, I can see the bile toxins in my stools (sorry, but you can literally diagnose your health by doing this "embarrassingly to admit" task) and I feel 300% better. No exaggeration. I do the cleanse 1x month, sometimes twice if I've gotten off track on the sweets and starches. I swear by Solaray Yeast Cleanse.

I also started seeing an Integrative Health Doctor--a D.O. who practices holistic as well as mainstream health, who stays away from synthetic man-made drugs. A huge difference in my health is the use of a bioidentical hormone cream. The shingles threw me into early menopause (at age 42) so lack of estrogen and progestrone made me feel like death. He does a complete hormone panel (blood test) on me annually and customizes a prescription of a natural hormone cream that has the levels of estrogen, progesterone and testosterone by body needs. It costs $60 per month as it can only be filled by a compounding pharmacy which most medical insurance companies do not cover. But it is worth every penny and doesn't pose the dangers of uterine cancer that synthetic hormone replacement therapies do.

The D-Ribose powder was a great energy booster and I felt stronger when I was on it. But due to the high price tag, I haven't taken it in several years. I can feel a difference in the Acetyl-L Carnitine, which is not the same as regular Acetyl Carnitine, and I use the Solaray brand for that supplement as well. It is "an amino acid found in the human heart and liver tissue, where it metabolizes fatty acids into energy via the mitochondria and provides support for normal, healthy cognitive and cardiovascular function" (I just typed what is found on the bottle!),

As for cleansing, I don't believe in overdoing it. In fact, my Integrative Health doc said the best cleansing you can do is simply drink water with lemon throughout your day, switching off to lime just for a little variety. Both citruses do the same cleansing. Major cleansing products caused me to have chronic diarrhea, which was no benefit whatsoever.

I also practice yoga and do some simple Pilates and walk about two miles three times a week. Moderation is the key; no need for overkill. That, and a scripture that my Christian counselor recommends for "staying in the moment" is simply Jesus saying "Abide in Me" which means to simply stay in the moment with him, seeing and enjoying all that it has to offer. Don't look back on past "should haves" or to future ambitious goals--God will take care of tomorrow so there is no need to worry about it. Just "Remain in Him" in this moment.

That pretty much covers all of my vast knowledge on the subject!
