Re: Day 7 of my 8 day water fast and more

Day 8 and hoping it passes quickly.....

It's noon in the northwest, so now 24 hours until I can eat and hopefully start to feel human again.

The reason I am waiting until noon tomorrow to eat (technically I could claim an 8.5 day fast) is again according to Albert Mosseri's plan.

His belief is that the body does most of its detoxing from midnight to noon, so one should not interfere with the process by eating during those hours.

My weight today was 113 lbs, lower than it has been since middle school over 40 years ago. Starting at 129, that's a loss of 16 pounds over eight days, or two pounds a day. I had more loss over the first days, and slowed to one pound a day in the last two days. Most on longer fasts will end up averaging a pound a day, although the more overweight generally lose a larger percentage.

Again, my reason for fasting was not to lose weight since my weight at 129 was in the low-normal category for my 5'8.5" height. I am now at 113 in the "severe thinness" category, so will not have to worry about regaining.

Other than the weight loss, I have noticed no other changes in my health, which is disappointing. I just hope maybe my internal organs got some healing so this torture was worth something.

A few more things I failed to mention in my previous accounts...

Heart flutters. The first few days I had several episodes of rapid heart pounding, but none after that. Fasting experts say this is normal and not a big concern.

Sleep. My sleep has been fitful throughout. Hard to get to sleep and then awaking often and not going back to sleep. Normally I sleep well, but also normally get a lot of exercise so I think the total sedentary rest of the fast makes sleep less forthcoming.

Nausea. I've had a low-grade headache throughout, primarily noticeable in the evenings. The last two days I've also had a little nausea, especially when having to stand and walk for showers or refilling water and the like.

Blood pressure. A lot of fasters say their blood pressure drops a lot during fasting. But mine has always been low, 90/60, so I hadn't thought to take it during the fast. I took it this morning and got 95/75, so it has gone up a little. Heart rate 80, which is normal for me.

That's all I can think of for now.
