DCA; my sisters experience

DCA; my sister´s experience

My 47 year old sister who was diagnosed with agressive Breast Cancer stage IV in early Feb, 2015 with metastasis to the liver, had 1 dose of IV DCA in early March 2015. 3 days later she started to bloat around her midline (ascites)& felt extremely unconfortable; her liver values were already off & MD said she couldn´t receive "safe chemo" which he had been suggesting for her case. That weekend she went to the hospital to have some fluid removed. At the hospital she was also told that it was too late for radiation & on March 16th she was told that conventional chemo would simply kill her...she lasted until March 18th without any intervention whatsoever besides Phentanyl for pain...
I´ve read about many patients who are as bad as she was (liverwise)and they still seem to get blood products, IVs, tapping for the fluid buildup, electrolyte balancing etc...
It almost seems to me that the hospital staff decided to let her fade because she hadn´t sought their help earlier...am I being paranoid?
