Why is eating at night unhealthy?
For some weeks now, my schedule is like this - I sleep at about 2 AM and wake up at about 8 AM. I have lunch at noon and dinner at 6 PM. Most days, I get hungry between 11 PM and midnight and have a bowl of fruit. If I have eaten post 8 PM the previous night, which is most days now, I skip breakfast the next day.
Is eating at night like this healthy?
Most posts on the topic I found on curezone said it isn't because the body detoxifies at night and the metabolism slows down. Thus, eating at night interrupts the detox process and what you eat is not well assimilated. Some also spoke of needing to sit upright for proper digestion and avoiding acid reflux. This rings true with my intuition somewhat, but can someone substantiate this with more elaborate explanations? So far I have only found a few lines here and there.
Because it rings true, I usually only eat fruit at night because it is easier to digest. But I realise that the craving for food is very strong at night and hard to put off until I have had something to eat. I don't think I overeat but I still don't feel right about eating at night. However, I don't understand the topic deeply enough to convince my psyche to stop completely. Therefore, any articles, books, videos or explanations here would be very helpful.
On the other hand, I found several articles through Google which say that it doesn't make a difference, especially to weight loss or gain but perhaps otherwise too, what time you eat. Is this true? Some articles even say you SHOULD eat at night.
Also, since my body is used to the 2 AM to 8 AM sleep, shouldn't its detox process also be programmed that way, rather than beginning after sunset? Or does the body detox when it is dark irrespective of what schedule you follow?
