Re: How often to eat meals to avoid bad food combinations and strain on the digestive system?

Iandthou,

Usually the food stays in our stomach for 4 to 5 hours. That is why majority health practitioners will say keep 4-5 hours between meals. But for food to totally clear out from your colon takes 30 to 40 hours. That is why people like Dr. Shelton would say eat once a day.

This also depends on what you eat. Fruits digest faster than nuts. Meats take even longer. Also mono meals digest faster vs. meals with many types of foods. Regardless if you keep 4 hours between meals you will be fine.

Below is a link that will give you more details.

About hunger I have the same issue. I have difficult time telling if I am truly hungry or not. Many years ago I was given antacids, after that I have never felt true hunger or thirst. I have done many fasts, but never got to the stage of true hunger.

This is a great subject for discussion, because now a days many doctors say eat every two to three hours, but does that really make sense?
