Re: Questions about daily coffee enemas
Hi aerowallah and oregongirl,
I apologize for not responding sooner and thanking you guys for your very thoughtful input, as I just logged in today and saw your responses. I really appreciate your feedback! In response to your questions & comments:
1) I will definitely try the baking soda enema. So far; I have only used salt water e's, coffee e's, or strained lemon juice e's.
2) I've actually been using instant coffee lately because it was quicker to prepare in the morning, and I can make it really strong, which seems helpful. I will go back to brewing it though; as the instant coffee probably has other chemicals or
additives in it.
3) I do juice but not every day; thanks for your input about this!
4) I am completely dependent on enema's for any large intestine function now, and can't eliminate at all without the use of an e; unfortunately. I've tried different medications like Zelnorm over the years, and they really don't seem to work. I'm not sure if my colon is "dead" and needs to be surgically removed at this point :(. I don't want to do the surgery because the problem often resurfaces again after surgical removal of the colon, and I understand from my research that you can't do e's anymore once you've had your colon resectioned. I've accepted that this has to be part of my lifestyle now; but my only frustration is that it is so time consuming. The whole process takes more than an hour, as my first enema generally won't stimulate anything, even using about 10 cups of strong coffee in the e. I have been really worried that I might be causing additional damage to my body by doing this every day, and did not want to cause any electrolyte issues, sepsis, or perforation of my diverticula; so I really appreciate very much your incredibly helpful feedback about all this! I am so appreciative of the time you took to answer all my questions.
Have a wonderful day!
