My guess is that the pain you felt was from the thyroid. This happens now and again with
Iodine supplementation, selenium is the remedy; especially with hashimoto this mineral is crucial. Search the forum and you will find a ton of information.
For the parathyroid issues, search "boron parathyroid".
Boron is as important for the parathyroid as
Iodine is for the thyroid.

Hypothyroid may be a cause for elevated blood calcium.
Magnesium is definitely worth looking into.
