well, i had my drs appointment today. its been two weeks since this was cut out.

a new assistant is the one who checked me in and took my bandage off and got the gist of my story.  i told her that for the most part only manuka honey has gone on the wound.  i did have some trouble - the systemic infection went to lungs and mucus for a while, tape cutting off air caused eruptions, anything wrapped around my leg(no matter how loose) made my foot swell from lack of circulation, the tissue still compromised somewhat from the venom, and that i have had to stay on top of it all and still run around chasing kids.  she saw this(taken last night)

she looked at it, this for the first time since she wasnt there at my initial visit, and looked pretty pleased, commenting that it had very nice granulation in the wound.

when the dr came in i greeted him with "hey, theres my hero!"  he was kinda smug when he asked me how it was going and i told him he was right about the bad infection and that i have had some ups and downs.  then HE looked at it.  he got real quiet.  i had told him i had been using honey as a dressing.  he went over to the "great wall of preprinted scripts" and grabbed one.  as he filled it out he said, rather quietly and without any fanfare, "i would like you to use this bactoban on there three times a day after washing with soap and water each time."  after a pause and handing me my script and chart he said, "id like to see you in two weeks."

that was it.  the guy who raised hell with me about it might be cancer and what a mess and it will take 6 months for this to heal had nothing else to say.  he left the room.  he looked mighty humble to me and i dont think we made eye contact after the examination.

then the assistant who WAS in the room when he excised the dead stuff off me and heard him get mideival on me came in the dress the wound.  the look on her face said it all.  in fact, i think she came in due to the talk outside and wanted to see for herself instead of the first nurse.  i said "looks pretty good, huh?"  she quietly agreed and patched me and left.

i paid fifty dollar copay for that.

if you think that story is good, youll really like the next one.
