In my opinion there is no interpreting that needs to be done here. Hear the word means for those at the time to listen to what Christ what teaching and doer means to do what He told them to do (that is everything that He told them to do). For those of us that are alive today, we have the word in the Bible, and we have to do what it tells us to do in the Bible (everything that it tells us to do). We also listen to the Word, that is Christ himself and follow Him (that is the doing part). Listen to Christ, Live in Christ. It's not rocket Science that needs to be dissected and formulated. Just listen and do, that is all. Of course, first we need ears to hear.
