Re: If I died today...quote

But notice they are appealing to their works there as the reason the Lord should save them, not the blood and righteousness of Jesus Christ. They are trying to be saved by their own works which will never work.

The will of the Father is to believe on the Son and trust in Him alone for salvation.

John 6:28-29
28Then they said to him, “What must we do, to be doing the works of God?” 29Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.”

When our trust is in the blood and righteousness of Jesus alone, apart from our works, then there will be good works but those good works will be by the grace of God at work in us and not something we can boast about as those in Matthew 7 are doing.

Ephesians 2:10
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

1 Corinthians 15:10
But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me.
