cold treatment- snuff variation

A recent bout with cold has been more difficult than usual to rid from upper respiratory tract. The worst part - overall malaise, achey joints, runny nose, sneezing - passed passed about 8 days ago but the residual effects - sore throat/eustachian tube and congestion/mucous in sinuses and bronchials have been lingering despite using the reliable remedies (garlic oil & B&B, lots of Echinacea, lung tonic and gargling withe cayenne tincture). I ran out of raspberry leaf at onset, the good news is Spring time and will be picking new leaves soon.

I have a batch of Uny's herbal snuff on hand from 2 years ago. Anyone who's ever tried this knows that one must be fairly serious about using such remedies up the nose .... and perhaps a bit bold .... desperate....or whacky, take your pick, to dose with this daily for a week or more. Be this as it may, I recently tried a variation in an effort to be more thorough and it seems to have helped; making a small batch of snuff tea and when sufficiently cooled running it through each nostril with Neti pot as a prelude to snuffing the powder the usual way. This softens the blow a bit, which is to say, rather than spending the subsequent 10 - 15 minutes feeling as though you are having aftershocks of 20 kilovolt zap to the mid-brain, it is like mmmmm 15 kilovolts. This has also been a lot more productive expelling mucous from sinuses and helped to unplug ears that have been blocked for the better part of the last 10 days. This method also uses up snuff supply quicker - about 1/4 teaspoon to a cup if hit water - but all the better coming up with a way to use up a 2year old supply.
