May belle, something that helped me when I had the face lesions was to put generous amount of desitin or generic brand of baby rash treatment found at W mart with the highest amount of zinc in it, cover past edges of the open sore.

Then take clear wide packing tape and put it over the wound completely blocking the air. Seal it up good and leave it as long as you can. Tie a scarf around it if you have to so it doesn't come loose. I have even used duct tape.

The longer you keep it away from air the sooner it will heal. Repeat when the ointment seeps away..
