Root Canal Apicoectomy
In October of 2014 I started to have a lot of pain in tooth #9 after a routine cleaning. I was advised to get a root canal. I got the
root canal and the pain was still there. I paid out of pocket to see another dentist and he saw that I was hitting heavy on that tooth. He did an occlusal adjustment and the pain went away.
In February I started to have pain again. The way that the
root canal was done there was sealer way beyond the apex. I got it retreated by another endo. Not much help. I then got it retreated in prep for an apico.
The apico was done exactly two weeks ago by a very popular and well regarded surgeon in my area . However, once the initial swelling went down the area directly around the tooth was even worse. It hurts to bite down and the tooth feels like a splinter that my body is painfully trying to push out. I'm afraid to go ahead with an implant because I'm afraid my body may have the same reaction. The surgeon is baffled as to where the pain is coming from. I got a CT scan done today but I don't have high hopes as the CT scan done months ago didn't reveal anything. I got a price quote from a skilled holistic dentist for a zirconium implant, $5500 with $3000 up front. Not sure if I trust him. His name is Vesselin Shumentov. I'm sure he does fine work but implants around me are far cheaper. I don't know if you know of anyone who has had a similar story or have recommendations. I like the idea of holistic dentists but my wallet doesn't for the most part. The pain I'm having is constant and unbearable.
I am also wondering if I should get some kind of a bridge or wear a flipper if I get the tooth removed. I don't know know what could be causing this pain but if the tooth gets removed do they need to use the Hal Huggins protocal or is that quackery?
