It was considered fair war compared to WWI!

You have to put things in perspective.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/5e/WorldWarII-DeathsByAlliance-Piechart.png

Only 4% of all WW2 deaths were Germans, Austrians, Italians and Japanese civilians.

58% of all WW2 deaths were civilians from other countries, most of them killed by Germans or by Japanese.

Total number of people who died at WW2 is estimated at 60 - 85 millions, and about 26 millions just from USSR.

Hitler almost always started occupation of any of the countries it occupied by bombing cities, bombing both military and civilian targets.

Not to mention total destruction of some of the large cities like for example Moscow, Stalingrad, Warsaw, Belgrade, etc.

What was left bay Germans, was often finished by
allied bombings.

It was considered the fair war-game at the time, as long as none of the sides was using chemical or biological weapons.

It is all about what was normal war game of the time.

That does not make it right of course, as most of the German civilians did not deserve to die for what Hitler was responsible for.
