there are oil glands within the visual structure and it is these that your dr will be referring to- google meibomian glands: they line your eyelids. Good functioning of these are crucial to a decent tear film and eye health. sorry you're having such problems and no advice I'm afraid - but thought it might help to correct the misunderstanding in a previous post.
