Can anyone tell me what the pathway re aldosterone and pregnenolone steal. I think someone posted this already but with all the brain fog, I can't remember which thread it was on.
I have terrible skin dehydration. Low sodium and potassium levels. Low glucose levels. I also have a bad case of melasma.
I've read that high ACTH release causes melasma via pregnenolone steal. That's why many sites promote progesterone as a way to cure melasma. But I am on low dose progesterone. I feel higher doses just convert to cortisol so I feel even more stressed.
I am also taking licorice root. I have taken it in the past and felt slightly better but notice the same dehydrated skin and melasma while I was on it.
And now I am paranoid that both of these are contributing to cortisol instead of turning it off via negative feedback loop.
If anyone has any feedback I would greatly appreciate it.
