Re: Mirena Coil Side Effects
Hi,
i have mirena fitted 11 months ago.Since then I have been through hell.
I have to mention that my gp recommended it for my extreme PMS symptoms (only-and not as a contraceptive)
My PMS symptoms were- extreme breast swelling (up to 2 sizes),mood swings(mostly very emotional without the reason),sharp pains in abdominal area and swelling of whole body ,cravings for sugar.
So I had it fitted..and for the first month I was bleeding non stop and I was in such a pain that went back to clinic twice to check if everything was fitted properly and if there was no infections etc.Doc said it's normal because my body needs to accept it.Then for 2-3 months it seemed to get 'better',my periods were regular and lighter. After that my periods got really painful, heavy and long and each month 2 days after period ends my PMS starts and continue until my next period!I feel like going crazy.I lost my job (as I couldn't coop with with my anger/emotions and I was working with small children)and I my 8 years relationship ended because no sex(i can't even think sex )and i was generally getting 'crazy' without a reason.
So,my Mirena's side effects are :
breast swelling, itchy dry eyes,I put on stone and half, extreme tiredness/sleepiness (to the point I fall a sleep everywhere-in my car when waiting on red light),mood swings, abdominal swelling and pain(look like 7th month of pregnancy)-this is 'only' about 3 days every month-about 10 days before period..extreme cravings for sugar. You can imagine I did a pregnancy test few time (even if I had no sex..).
So now,I have my period for about 10-13days a month, then my PMS and then my period again.I wend to my doctor who said that i should wait another few months and 'swear' that everything will be 'normal'.She also said that I should drink more water and maybe change diet and exercise more-but DON'T remove it yet.
I said that my diet is very good and I do exercise everyday-I'm actually a yoga teacher.-but she repeat same thing again-like a robot..
I have decided to remove it today evening in my local clinic..
I feel sorry for all of us that we have to go through it and doctors still pretend that it's a good thing to have and saying that all of this symptoms are because of lack of exercise and bad diet etc
There we go..this is my story :)
