Re: Allergic reaction to UV!

I wanted to answer this because Ive had a similar issue with the Mirena---which I had removed today! yay.

for 3 months, I've had yeast infections, UTI's and a round of BV, but this past month all cultures have been negative---I have burning and swelling in the vagina, as well as pain! Like my abdomen is swollen. The doctors think its an allergic reaction to something (I am sensitive to detergents, soaps, fragrances, etc. and I don't use any of the ones that aren't hypoallergenic or free and clear.

I have used Nystain cream and it helped some and Bendryl on a daily cycle to bring down the inflammation and ice packs, etc. It will be good for about a week and then return with a vengeance of burning, swelling, etc. The only conclusion I can come up with was that the Mirena was causing some of this issue--I had it since June 2014. They removed it today and I hope that my symptoms go away...its been debilitating to have this pain and discomfort.

The removal felt like a very small pinch and it was over. Im not even bleeding. It hurt like crazy going in, I switched doctors and this was so much easier than I anticipated to remove it.

Ive done a ton of online research and found forums like this with Mirena issues in women, why don't these doctors see the connections? Especially for women who are otherwise healthy.....
