The patent has now expired so anybody is free to produce and use this compound. One company in the US already tried to synthesize this compound by following the method described in the patent, but said they failed to crystallize it in the final step. Perhaps any of you reading this message know a chemist somewhere who could try again. If anybody succeeds, then we could see if it is safe and it really works, as stated in the patent.
It may really work. I suggest every reader of this post save the patent as a file and print out a hard copy just in case it "mysteriously" disappears from the Web.
