Arm and Hammer liquid, Dr. Bronners, Borax in every load; bleach also for whites - damn the confounded septic tank. Hot wash, hot dry everything. Clothes feel great, as long as I don't hang anything to dry.

I may not be the best to respond though since I've always had far more issues keeping my house and car fiber count down than the fibers in my clothes. I also benefit from a bone dry climate.
