Re: GABA leaky BBB test ...relaxed feeling a good or bad thing? confused!

Hi Dr. Jeff,

I have been using GABA for about a year now to help with stress and sleep. I have a multitude of issues but am finally getting a handle on them.

I have had severe adrenal fatigue symptoms for years and years - maybe my whole life. They are now only moderate - hurray. (although it was hard work ;)

I believe that GABA has contributed to this progress - as well as 5 htp.

Now, it seems that the GABA that made me so calm is waning off in effect.

The mental fog I had is still there but is better. I am wondering, could it be possible that GABA is actually contributing to healing my leaky BBB?

My hypothesis is this...as all things are interrelated, could it be possible that the reduced stress due to taking GABA has created some relief on my intestines and other organs?

I am able to absorb more of my nutrients now as I am not in a constant highly stressful state. This in an indirect way, could have contributed to partially healing my leaky BBB?

Perhaps having a leaky BBB is an OPPORTUNITY for people with adrenal and psychological conditions to treat themselves through GABA, until it eventually stops working which signals the leaky BBB is healed as well as the anxiety?

I don't know, maybe I'm way off base. As they say, having a little info is dangerous. No one take me seriously on this, just trying to connect the dots.
