Why can't I take good quality castor oil internally?
Hi guys,
Can you tell me which castor oil is OK to take? I always thought any castor oil is good. I have some from the drugstore years ago that says it can be taken internally as a laxative. But now I bought good quality castor oil to help with a scar and it says it's only to be used externally. The brand is Home Health. Another good brand is Palm Christie.
I just want to know if I can take the good quality stuff internally as a laxative. I'm going to be using it with another remedy. I know there are other things that say to take it externally but if you're careful with the dose you can take it internally.
What brands are you taking internally?
I know of ricin but this doesn't seem to be a problem according to Mercola.

According to the International Journal of Toxicology's Final Report on Castor Oiliv , you don't have to worry about castor oil being contaminated by ricin, because ricin does not "partition" into the castor oil. Castor oil has been added to cosmetic products for many years, without incident. For example, castor oil and hydrogenated castor oil were reportedly used in 769 and 202 cosmetic products, respectively, in 2002.
The U.S. FDA gives castor oil a "thumbs up," deeming it "generally regarded as safe and effective" for use as a stimulant laxative.
Thanks
