I think it can lessen it a bit, not greatly. With any open ulcer, taking any form of acid may not be comfortable. It depends on where the ulvcer is and what buffering capabilities each person has. A person with past traumas or ongoing stress held in the body can affect vagus nerve function and may slow emptying of the stomach. This may add to the effect.
