Oral hygiene products can cause Exfoliative Cheilitis

Here is an article that explains how some oral hygiene products can cause ec. This is very eye opening, because now I think the culprit might be my floss. I've tried brushing my teeth without toothpaste for a week(gross, right?) but it didn't help much, I think I might try a week without flossing and see what happens.
