Blood in stool - worried

I've long dealt with constipation. About a year ago, I began taking Natural Calm magnesium (1 heaping tsp., twice a day), which seemed to do the trick. By this I mean that every morning I'd go - but it was always very watery. I didn't worry b/c I knew that Mg has this effect, and I wasn't constipated (except on rare occasions), so I figured all was well.

A few months ago, I began to worry that ALWAYS having very loose, watery stools might not be so healthy. Also, I began noticing a reddish tinge sometimes, and a tiny bit of blood when I'd wipe. (Sorry to be so descriptive, but I don't know how else to convey my experience.) SO, I stopped taking the Mg powder. Sure enough, after a few days, my stools became more formed, but I wasn't getting the 'output' I'd expected, and there was still the occasional blood when I'd wipe. I ordered Dr. Schulze 's IF#1 and began taking one at night with dinner.
After 2 or 3 nights of taking one capsule, I had 2 BMs in the same day, both formed. Yay! I thought. I've fixed my problem.
However, I still have bloody stools. Sometimes it's streaked in the stool, sometimes the stool is kind of loose and I can tell there's blood mixed in. I'm trying NOT to freak out, thinking maybe it's partially due to internal hemorrhoids, but I have to be honest - it scares me. I do NOT trust doctors, and I don't want to have a colonoscopy or any other poke-and-prod tests done. I'm 40 years old, am in good health (or so I hope!), eat well (no junk or fast food), exercise daily. I sleep well, have a good appetite, and no weight loss - all of which I hope mean that nothing is seriously wrong.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Have I damaged my colon by taking too much Mg for too long? Please help.
