Father John had long seen spirits come to him after death asking for prayer to be released from Purgatory into Heaven. Father John was pheasant hunting one day and saw a man come through the brush. Actor John Candy stepped out and told Father John he'd just died on the set of his movie. He told Father John he needed prayer. God had not damned him to Hell but allowed him into Purgatory for his many kindnesses to people. He told Father John he appeared to him because the property he was hunting was the site he had chosen to build his retirement home. Father John promised to pray, and did so, saying Mass and praying intensively for John Candy's soul. A week later, in his mailbox, Father John found a package containing all the movies of John Candy with a thank-you note from the deceased John Candy himself.
