Re: Reducing Renamide or other supps safely? Results are ready.
Hi,
I've been gone for a couple of weeks so missed your post. It's good you got your results back. Is the number correct on Na/Mg ratio? That sounds super high!
So you aren't working with a practitioner? I can't give you advice on which supplements to cut out since I'm not a P. (The longer I've done NB, the more respect I have for their training.) You could also get a 20% discount on them if you worked with a Dr. Wilson-approved practitioner.
The little bit I can add is that adding any other supplements is always risky. I looked up Protandim, and it seems to have ashwagandha. Correct? I believe that acts on the adrenals and could be over-stimulating for them. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable on this forum can weigh in on that. I was taking a supplement that was too stimulating before I started working with my P, and he said that it was like "whipping a dead horse" so I stopped it. Made a difference in how I felt.
You can skip Vit. D by eating skinless and boneless sardines 3 times a week. That will also give you the fish oil you need. Most people think if they are getting adequate sunshine, they don't need Vit. D., but, unless you've had a blood test done recently that shows your Vit. D level is optimal, don't assume it is OK. I take 5000 I.U. daily (as does my husband), and only then does it stay in a good range.
On the program my P put together for me, both renamide and selenium are optional so you could leave them off for now. I do take them because I want to get well as soon as possible. Blue corn chips have a lot of selenium so you could make them part of your daily diet.
