Re: Can't Lose Weight After Years of Fasting
Ok, do not listen to ALB. They do not know what they're talking about. And for the love of god don't listen to anyone who tells you that you need a new scale or in any other way implies that you're lying or crazy. They are idiots.
It's totally possible to not lose weight while fasting and it's happening to me right now. The reason is most likely either that your metabolism has slowed down too much from your repeated fasting and you need to speed it back up by eating frequent tiny meals and exercising as much as possible (cardio primarily) or hormonal changes are preventing your weight loss (I unknowingly had that problem for 7 years on birth control and list 100
pounds after I stopped taking it, but also during my current fast I lost 10
pounds in a week and when my period ended this last weekend, my weight loss halted as well).
I do not know how to control my hormones at the moment and it's really tricky, doctors won't know what the hell they're talking about either and may also tell you your scale is broken or "you must be eating SOMETHING!", so to fight this I'm going to add cardio, which is tough while fasting but will hopefully work.
I'd take a break from it for a while if I were you since it sounds like you do it too much unless you're always working out while you're fasting to keep your metabolism intact. I noticed a change in my ability to lose weight and keep it off without fasting after doing an intense 6 month period of working out 2 hours a day (1 hr cardio and the other was strength training), are tiny meals 3-4 times a day (fruit and protein only and in very smal amounts, like an apple for breakfast and a can of tuna for lunch) drinking tons of water each day, avoiding alcohol and caffeine like the plague and maintaining a regular sleep schedule. It might help you tondo something like that or something a bit less extreme if needed. Good luck!
