Confused on drlwilson.com vitamin c

I suspect I have poorly functioning kidneys, and I was reading up on www.drlwilson.com and trying to find out which type of C I should take. But the last paragraph on this page has me confused. basically he says plain ascorbic acid works very well, then says "i do not use ester c or other forms of vitamin C such as the ascorbates" , so which is it? lol

4. Vitamin C supplementation is used in nutritional balancing mainly for slow oxidizers, who need more of it. It has the effect of raising the sodium level by supporting adrenal gland activity. Extra vitamin C may also given on rare occasions to help with symptoms of allergies and infections, usually in combination with other nutrients.

For these purposes, plain ascorbic acid works very well, and is not costly. We find no reason to use food-based vitamin C except in a rare case in which someone is sensitive to corn-based vitamin C.

I do not use Ester C or other forms of vitamin C such as the ascorbates. These are all very yin, more costly, and do not seem to offer any significant advantages.
