I have a lower second molar which had a huge filling about 7 years ago. Recently it busted off and now the molar is infected and looks pretty dark all around. The filling was about 1/4 of the side and top surface and it looks like the decay goes below the gum line.
I've been to 3 dentists and they all recommend saving the tooth with a RC and crown. I even contacted some biological dentists who suggested the same thing.
I've already had my wisdom teeth removed so this is my back molar on the bottom left. If I pull it I will definitely have a lessened chewing ability unless I do an implant.
Frankly I feel like the tooth is a timebomb and probably should come out. It has caused abscesses and I suspect some other health issues for a while.
Has anyone had a successful RC crown on a tooth like this?
If I pull it can I hold off on an implant for a few years?
